PTI Blog Hop Night!!!

Well, tonight's the night! Papertrey Ink's Blog Hop!  So much fun, a great way to see tons of peoples variations on the same challenge.  This month's challenge was to use a CD case for a purpose other than intended, using PTI supplies of course!  For Father's Day, I got my Dad a giftcard (men are so hard to buy for!).  Well, I thought it would be fun to package a giftcard in a CD case.  Since men are so hard to buy for and to design for, I decided to work on one for my Dad.  Now, my Dad is actually my step-dad so the PTI sentiment I used inside is perfect for such a situation.

This is the front of the case.  I stamped the compass using the faux-embossing technique, which is the challenge today on SCS issued by Lynn which can be found here:

First I stamped in craft white ink, than in summer sunrise to match the cardstock.  This gives the image some dimention, although it looks a lot better IRL.  Than I stamped the tree on craft cardstock.  I decided to stamp the leaf outline a little off to kind of match with the faux embossing of the compasses.  I matted in chocolate and attached the ribbon to the case, than attached the tree over it with foam squares.
 
On the inside of the case, I used some of the Father Knows Best patterned paper on the bottom half, than made a pocket out of the same cardstock to fit the giftcard and attached with adhesive.
When you close the case, you simply tie a knot or bow in the ribbon.
You could make these to fit anyone or any occasion, I'm sure I'll play around with it a lot more!

VSN Weekend! Today & Tomarrow

Well, it's VSN tonight and tomarrow night on Splitcoast Stampers (virtual stamping night).  Challenges every hour, 45 min limit for each, fun, fun, fun!  You don't have to do them right away, by the way, just do them as you can and keep each to 45 min and upload by 10pm Sunday night.
Of course, because I've been waiting for VSN to start - I can't get on SCS!  Bummer!  Well, hopefully sometime tonight i'll be able to get in and check out the challenges so far.  In the meantime, here's a couple I didn't post yet!

SCS Sketch challenge 8/20

Acetate Goodie Box

I completed this adorable acetate goodie box for challenge TLC182 on Splitcoast Stampers this Monday.  Such a fun idea.  I decided to do a bit of a manly goodie box with fishing as a focus.  All the stamps are from Unity Stamp Co.  I had planned to put these fake worm fishing lures in the goodie box, but my husband took them before I got a chance! :)  It would also be cute to use more kiddie colors and fill with gummy worms!

VMAA Bonus Challenge

Julie's "Friends" challenge. Humerous friend card.  Well, hope this counts! :)  The bra, star & scalloped oval are all Amuse.  I printed the saying on the cardstock before stamping over it with the oval.

Favorites!  Yay!  Well, this chubby bluebird is one of my newest favs from Amuse as well as that awesome vintage print paper!  I used some white flock on his little stocking hat.

My "love" card!  Gotta have humor!  Hard to see from the bad night photo, but the "you're da bomb" saying is popped up with foam and there is a little glitter on the bomb.
