Well, yesterday was another HIP HOP Thursday on SCS with Unity Stamp Company.  There were 2 great challenges that I'd like to share my take on today.  The first was to use light blue in a card:

PTI Blog Hop!

Tonight is the Feb PTI blog hop!  So much fun to see all the different creations come out of the same challenge!  This month it's all about Spring, new flowers, grass, baby birdies...whatever reminds you of Spring or the Spring holidays. 
My first project was to use the new basket template to create a cute little Easter basket:
After printing my template on the cardstock, I inked all the edges with the matching ink just to give it a little depth and texture.  I stamped the cute little chick and bunny around the basket in blue and pink and used the same blue (Spring Rain) for a scalloped edging around the top, a circle behind that cute brad (from Doodlebug) and some crimped easter "grass".  I'm definately going to have to play around with this template more now that I've got one done!  There are so many ways you could use this template and change it up, it's a lot of fun!

Next I did an A2 cardbox to make a card set as a spring gift.  I used Heather's new set and both the new Feb colors, buttons & twill ribbon:
Doesn't that new green just remind you of all the fresh grass and leaves sprouting in the Spring!?  FYI: the lacy border punch is Fiskars.
I really love this set, it was so much fun to play with and I can tell i'll be using it a lot in the near future! :)

Quick note

Just a quick note.  Someone had asked how I created the shadow effect on my "love" card below for my hubby.  When I stamped the "love", I had all the letters on a block together to stamp it all at once.  I inked it up with black and stamped once, than immediately stamped again slightly off the first mark.  Very simple, no re-inking or different colors, just using the left-over ink from the stamps!

PTI Color Challenge

Today's PTI challenge is to use one of Dawn's projects from this week as color inspiration.  You were also supposed to pick one that might be out of your comfort zone.  I chose Dawn's combo of Black/Kraft/Cream.  I through in just a tiny bit of red so it would match with my husband's box of Valentine Hot Tamales! :)  I love kraft, but usually always have some bright color thrown in, so I kept it very simple.  My husband is, after all, a pretty no frills guy!  Perfect valentine for him.


The "love" is samped twice so there's a shadow effect, than the heart is stamped in red.  The box behind it is a wrap for his Hot Tamale box with the sentiment "how sweet it is to be loved by you stamped in red and the xoxo border image is stamped on both ends of the candy wrap twice.
Thanks for looking, hope you have a great Valentine's!  Can't wait for the LOVE from PTI tonight! :) But especially when it comes in the mail for me!

PTI Bitty Dot Sketch Challenge

Oh my gosh, my heart is pounding all over again just seeing this! :)  Can you imagine having every single ribbon to play with!?  (Note to self: Pray to win all night!) :)

Anywho- my kids have nonstop birthday parties this weekend so I decided to use the sketch to make the last birthday card for Shelby's friend's party tomarrow.  Now that I got the faux ribbon stamp set I can't get enough of it!  Here I used it to make my own patterened paper again and used the stitched "ribbon" stamp to make a border around the main image box - TOO cute!  I only have 1 girl (& 2 boys) so I don't get to go over the top girly too often, so I really went for girly!  And what girl doesn't love bright pink and hearts!?

PTI Over The Rainbow Challenge

Here is a challenge today from Nicole:

Well, I have to say, once I got started on this challenge I could not stop!  I've been so inspired lately by all the great hand-stamped background paper made by some great ladies that I started by using PTI's Faux Ribbon set to make my own patterened paper using these colors.  As soon as I finished that and looked at it, I just wanted to go crazy with this great color combo!
Because the patterned paper that I stamped was so colorful and detailed, I kept everything else pretty simple.  I didn't use much in the way of embellishments, ect.
I just love how all of these turned out!  Thanks for the great challenge!  (sorry for the fuzzy pics, I had to use my DS's camera again as I can't find my memory card) :)

PTI Anniversary Challenge

So today on Nicole's blog there is a challenge in order to be eligible for today's awesome prize!  Love a challenge!  Part of today's prize is a great PTI bag, so the challenge was to create a bag (paper, fabric, lunchbag, whatever!).
I just ordered this great flower set that I received today, so I decided to play with that:

Shelby - so cute!

Back again! :)  I just wanted to share this adorable photo of Shelby with one of her homemade Valentine cards.  She's always begging to make things with me, so I let her use whatever she wanted while I stamped some images for her to color later.  I think she did quite well with this one!

Taylor's Sketch Anniversary!

Well, last week was Taylor's anniversary of Friday Sketches, so there was an extra special challenge.  9 SKETCHES!  So fun!  I am shocked, but I actually finished all 9 and I ended up winning a $10 GC for Taylor's store.  Yay!
